Pete Schwab

imageOne of the original fishing bums, Pete Schwab lived with his wife Bess out of an early experimental design of the modern travel trailer. He was a free-lance writer and full-time fishermen. He traveled the country searching out fishing holes but settled ‘in the willows’ once he found California’s Klamath River. Obsessed with fly fishing, he dissected the sport like few others ever would. Unfortunately, he worked at a time of rapid change in the industry, and most of his research became obsolete once the sport moved to synthetic rods and lines. Nonetheless, Pete’s spirit endured and his love for fly fishing is evident in the numerous articles he wrote for Sports Afield during the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
