Images from the Russian River Event

A memorable collection of steelhead anglers gathered this past Saturday at the Russian River Sportsmen Hall in Duncan Mills. Well-known fly fishermen Russ Chatham, Lani Waller, Hal Janssen, Frank Bertaina, Art Delosso, Jim Adams, Neil Light, Dave Strong, Len Bearden, Dorothy Zdicki and Doug Brutocao were among the 200-person crowd. Northern California anglers of seasons past, Bill Schaadt, Myron Gregory, Michael Fong, Jim Green, Mel Leven, Bob Nauheim, Grant King and Gary Rowand were honored.

The always-entertaining Tooch Colombo tackled the kitchen, feeding the raucous and well hydrated crowd. Lani Waller presented a slide presentation on the Silver Salmon of Paper Mill Creek, before Russ Chatham spoke on the current state of the fishery. Various anglers added their frustrations with the dilapidated state of the Russian. A bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace closed the evening, allowing the attendees a moment of reflection. Bill Hutchison of Fishing International was the master of ceremonies. Hal Janssen, Frank Bertaina and Steve Jackson of Kings News and Tackle helped organize the event.
