Jimmy Green Spey-o-rama starts today!

San Francisco, CA

Starting this morning, the Jimmy Green International SPEY-O-RAMA and Fly Casting Festival began on the hallowed grounds of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club. The event centers on Spey casting competitions with single hand and two-hand casting demonstrations by fly casting experts. There are three ways to cast a fly line with the traditional single-handed rod; the roll cast, the overhead cast, and the Spey cast. The Spey cast originated and was developed in Scotland and is most often used with two handed fly rods.

The event is held in honor of the legendary rod-designer, line innovator, casting instructor and fisherman Jimmy Green. Mr. Green grew up in the Bay Area where he spent countless hours in the casting ponds of the Oakland Casting Club and the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club. Originator of the ferrulite ferrel, shooting head, and numerous break-through rod tapers, Jimmy Green is respected as one of the most complete anglers the sport has ever seen.

Some of the world’s finest casters will descend upon Golden Gate Park this weekend. The events run daily through Sunday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
