American Rivers, Federation of Fly Fishers, Wild Salmon Center, and Wild Steelhead Coalition, four non-profit organizations dedicated to the protection of wild salmon and steelhead and their habitat, have officially endorsed Rivers of a Lost Coast and its important conservation message.
American Rivers was founded in 1973 and joins together over 65,000 outdoor enthusiasts, conservationists, fishermen and concerned citizens. With offices across the country, American Rivers actively works to protect healthy watersheds for all communities to enjoy. The representatives of American Rivers believe our watersheds are more than just rivers, they are a larger indicator of a healthy ecosystem.
American Rivers maintains several different ongoing campaigns that track waterway health and pollution, watershed supply and resources, watershed protection, river function, and the enforcement of the Wild and Scenic Rivers act. Tom Skerritt, the narrator of Rivers of a Lost Coast, is a board member of American Rivers.
The Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the sport of fly fishing through conservation, restoration, and education. Lew Bell, Lee Wulff, and Ted Trueblood were among the founding members of the FFF. Today the FFF is comprised of over 300 clubs nationwide, the largest chapter residing in Northern California. The goals of the FFF include the advancement of fly fishing, along with the proliferation of conservation and awareness goals that all anglers should share.
The Wild Salmon Center is the only international conservation organization working to protect wild Pacific salmon throughout their entire range. The Wild Salmon Center partners with governments, local communities, and businesses to create a network of healthy salmon ecosystems across the North Pacific. The non-profit organization’s work uses the best available science to create conservation solutions that support sustainable economies, regional cultures, and the great rivers of the Pacific Rim.
The Wild Steelhead Coalition is an organization dedicated to increasing the return of wild steelhead to the waters and rivers of the Pacific Northwest. The non-profit organization believes wild steelhead are an important legacy to the Pacific Northwest and have undeniably been reduced to a fraction of their once historical capacity. The Wild Steelhead Coalition is comprised of concerned citizens determined to reverse the factors that have negatively impacted wild steelhead, and in so doing, restore healthy and viable populations of wild steelhead to the Pacific Northwest.
The production team is proud to have these groups on board.
